Cville Village has purchased tickets for the musical Newsies, presented as part of the Virginia Theatre Festival this summer.
Newsies: The Musical, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, is based on the 1992 musical film of the same name, which in turn was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The musical premiered off Broadway in 2011 and made its Broadway debut in 2012, where it played for more than 1,000 performances before touring. It garnered 8 Tony nominations in 2012 and won for Original Score and Choreography.
We have a block of 20 tickets, including 2 wheelchair spots with companion seats, for the 2 pm matinée on Sunday, July 19th. This is the last show of the run and should be special. The performance space is Culbreth Theatre, 109 Culbreth Rd, on Grounds.
Free parking is available for performances in the Culbreth Garage, across the road from the theatre building. The garage is accessible from Rugby Rd or University Ave.
Members and volunteers can reserve a maximum of 2 tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for signing up is 5 pm on Wednesday, July 15. But hurry, because these tickets are going to go FAST!
NOTE: If you need one of the two wheelchair spots, please don't use this site to register. Instead, call the organizer, Anne Smith, at 978-933-1390 to make your arrangements. These places are strictly for wheelchair users with a companion.
Members who need rides, please use the normal request process.
